Signed Photograph
2 pages | SMC 332

Quick Reference

  • Theodor Herzl

    Background

A wonderful photo, signed on the verso with a reference to the day Herzl spent in Jerusalem, having traveled there to meet Wilhelm II – that the Kaiser might persuade his ally, the Turkish Sultan, to allow for a creation of a “German protectorate” for Jewry, in then Turkish-controlled Palestine.

Signed Photo, being a cabinet photo by Vienna’s J. Loewy, inscribed, in German, on the verso to “the Marx Family”, in commemoration of his days in Jerusalem, no place, November 3, 1898.
