Eisenhower’s Brother Milton Eulogizes Ike as “Truly Another Angel in Heaven”
President Eisenhower called his little brother Milton “the bright one in the family” and said he would rather “take Milton’s views than those of anyone else.” The brothers were close, and the President’s death hit Milton hard: overcome, he was unable to attend the funeral. Writing some time after his loss to Franklin Roosevelt's Secretary of War, Harry Woodring, Milton says here he wants “to add a personal word of thanks for the thoughtfulness of your wife and yourself at the time of my brother's death,” adding, “Truly, I believe you are right: There is another angel in Heaven.”
