Abraham Lincoln “Pardons” Misbehaving Boys, Allowing Them to Return to School

On this, his last birthday, Lincoln exercises executive mercy. “Let these boys return to their school upon the condition stated by them,” he says, “and remain so long as they do not misbehave.”
